Actually I switched from 1and1.co.uk to 1and1.com :)
I figured it would be the easiest way. It was fairly straightforward with the exception of a bug in the software which meant I had to delete my domain settings in the UK before I could add them to my US account. This meant that I had to take down my website and e-mail for 24-48 hours, which I had hoped to avoid.
